Bei einem Streifzug durch ein Barnes & Noble Geschäft in St. Louis ist mir dieses Buch in die Hände gefallen. Da ich selbst derzeit mit ein paar Kollegen dabei bin, eine eigene Facebook Präsenz aufzubauen, war mein Interesse gleich geweckt. Ehrlich gesagt, hatte ich gehofft, eine Reihe von einfachen, pragmatischen Tipps und Tricks zu lernen, wie man Followers bekommt (vs. diese zu "kaufen"). Meine Erwartungen wurden mehr als erfüllt. Das heißt nicht, dass Kane's Ratschläge oberflächlich wären. Das Gegenteil ist der Fall. Gleich von Anfang an erklärt er, wie wichtig es ist herauszuarbeiten, welche Kernbotschaft man mit seiner Social Media Präsenz kommunizieren will. Eben das herauszufinden, ist nicht einfach und doch essentiell. Es geht nicht um eine hohle Follower-Schar, sondern um Inhalte, die für die Leserschaft einen echten Mehrwert darstellen.Mit konkreten Beispielen und Erfahrungen gibt Kane Hilfestellungen und ermutigt, seine Leser, es ihm und vielen anderen gleich zu tun. Immer wieder zitiert er den Influencer Prince Ea, der es schafft mit wenigen Worten oder auch Fragen, die Dinge beim Namen zu nennen. Dieser ermahnt auch, das große Ganze nicht aus den Augen zu verlieren. So heißt es auf Seite 219: "Prince Ea offers the following questions to discover more about yourself, which can be applied to building your brand:1. Why am I on the planet?2. What can I give others?3. What makes me happy?4. If I had five years to live, what would I do?5. If I had one year to live and knew that whatever I chose to do was guaranteed to succeed, what would I do?Answering the above questions can really help you understand what you are here to do, help you believe it's possible, and help you have more follow-through in your work and in building your brand."Es geht somit nicht um einen schnellen und oberflächlichen Fix, um ganz viele Followers aufzubauen. Es geht um sinnhaftes (purpose-driven) Agieren in den sozialen Medien. Es wäre zu wünschen, wenn sich viele, die sich in den Sozialen Medien tummeln, dieser Aufforderung anschließen und entsprechend handeln.
Was für ein grandioses Buch? Ich habe das Glück Brendan persönlich zu kennen, und war unglaublich beeindruckt, wie systematisch er vor geht. Mit eine unvergleichlichen Präzision hat er ein scheinbar unwirkliches Ziel erreicht. Doch was viele nicht schaffen, wirkliche Interaktion mit seiner Community aufzubauen. Brendan hat auch diese Herausforderung gelöst, und in seinem Buch gibt er eine Schritt für Schritt-Anleitung, wie das auch in Europa funktioniert. Sehr einfallsreich, und schnell zu lesen. The book has some good tips, but you have to really want it. You need to wade through all these stories that wined and twist that have no real value to get to the information. Took me two days to get through it and I had only a few pages of useful info. Over priced and lots of page filler.This could have been a 50 page book instead of 230 of useless drek,
The actual meat of the book could be rewritten in under three pages. The essence is that you need to make and test ads to grow a following. Save $15 and 6 hours and go read a concise blog post on the subject.
As a creative director, writer and brand marketer, I'm always looking at books like this; namely, the ones that make big promises that they'll show me something new, something simple, something vital that I've been missing in this world of branding technology that is incredibly difficult to keep up with. Yes, they usually leave me wanting in one way or another, but not this time. Kane simply delivers. He breaks everything down in an organized manner, and delivers the tips and tricks you'll need (if you're reading this review, you must need them) to grow your effort, passion or brand.In the end, you're simply going to have to do the work. While it won't always be fun, it should always be fulfilling. Whatever you're here for, make sure it's true calling. Be dead certain that this is your passion. If it really is, and you're smart enough to read Kane's book, you're going to win. And big.

Brendon Kane's book, One Million Followers, delivers on its promise and I am immersed in learning from this book. First, I must tell you that I have no idea what to do in the social media marketing world, I am a social worker and want to build a following for my children's life-skills business. I just assumed that I'd write some post and boost it and hope people would follow. Now, after reading this book, I'm very clear on my strategy, because this book is very clear on step by step instructions. The writing and organization of the book make sense, which is a great sign because the strategies in the book, on writing and being organized in your approach, are paramount to my success.I feel like I've discovered a secret recipe and am a bit surprised, happily, that Brendan is sharing his top-notch approach with the world. I will be launching my new business in March 2019 and will be implementing these strategies in early 2019 to gain a FB following. I will write a follow up review for everyone to let you all know how it goes. For now, I highly recommend this book. It has educated and changed the way I think about marketing in social media and gaining followers on FB.
